This programme is intended to contribute towards addressing the continuing gap between healthcare service delivery and health service demand against the background of the disease burden that is predominantly preventable.
There are a number of health workers with various certificates in healthcare like mid-wives, nurses, health educators, health inspectors and even young men and women who are school leavers and who would wish to develop a career in public health.
This programme intends to prepare these categories of people to develop competences in various disciplines of public health so as to meet various challenges facing the country. It intends to impart comprehensive public health knowledge and skills to the graduates of the programme so as to address the existing human resource gap in the health sector.
The graduates of this programme will be capacitated to recognize public health problems, diagnose their causes, use both theoretical/scientific and analytical knowledge and skills to provide solutions. They will have to develop this both through theoretical and analytical skills in confronting common public health challenges facing the region.
Our Diploma Public Health programme is aimed primarily for school leavers, people who are already diploma holders, registered nurses, people who have a certificate in health related courses.
